THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT:
6-Day ‘Then & Now’ IA History Enrichment Trip
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF TRIP:
Like our school’s History Trips before, this exciting and meaningful custom-designed student tour is based on the principle that both learning about and seeing the places where history was made will lead to a greater understanding of the past & present as well as inform our future. This engaging student experience will begin in ATLANTA, Georgia, continue in BIRMINGHAM & SELMA, and end in MONTGOMERY, Alabama, before traveling home again. Besides getting a good taste of Southern culture & hospitality, highly relevant connections with our school’s MYP Humanities Program will be made in all four cities. E.g. the 1965 Selma-to-Montgomery March for Voting Rights will come alive by reflectively crossing the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge together.
